Local Farms. Local Families. Local Impact.
The Wayne County Farms to Families Fund, a fund under the Wayne County Community Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, connects your generosity with our farmers’ harvests — ensuring families facing food insecurity have access to fresh, healthy food, while strengthening our local farms and economy.
What is the Farms to Families Fund?
The Wayne County Farms to Families Fund is simple but powerful.
Neighbors like you donate, we purchase fresh food directly from Wayne County farms, and together we make sure families facing food insecurity have nourishing, local food on the table.
Every dollar stays right here — strengthening our farms, feeding neighbors with dignity, and building a more resilient community.
Our trusted partners, including the Wayne County Food Pantry System, help distribute this food across the county.
How It Works
A simple model with powerful impact.
We bring together the heart of our farming community, the strength of our volunteers, and the generosity of neighbors like you — to make sure fresh, nutritious food reaches the tables of those who need it most.
-
Community Gives
Donations from individuals, businesses, and fundraising events power the Farms to Families Fund year-round.
-
Farms Grow
We use those funds to purchase seasonal, farm-fresh food directly from Wayne County farmers — supporting our local economy.
-
Food is Shared
Food is shared through the five pantry distribution sites. Pop-up sites allow us to further address food insecurity in our region by using donated food and working to register more families into the pantry system.
-
Everyone Thrives
Farmers are supported. Families are nourished. Our whole community grows stronger, together.
The Fund In Action

"The volunteers were so kind. The milk and fresh veggies were a blessing. You made a difference in the life of a 70-year-old cancer patient."
— Newfoundland Recipient
"This program puts my mind at ease during these trying times. I’ve been out of work, and the fresh produce and recipes give me something to look forward to. Thank you to Willow Wisp Organic Farm and all the kind volunteers."

Our Community Impact
When neighbors come together, real change takes root.
Thanks to the generosity of donors, the dedication of volunteers, and the strength of our local farms, the Wayne County Farms to Families Fund is making a lasting difference — one box of food, one family, one season at a time.
Since launching in 2020, the Wayne County Farms to Families Fund has invested in our community’s health and resilience:
5 local food pantry sites supported — plus pop-up pantries at schools, churches, and community centers
12+ Wayne County farms and businesses supported
450+ households across Wayne County served with dignity and care
Thousands of pounds of fresh milk, eggs, and produce shared
3,000+ volunteer hours logged — from traffic flow to food packing to friendly smiles
This is the power of neighbors coming together.
